dc.description.abstract |
Some measurements of vortex-core height for a heaving delta wing at high incidence are presented. A method of flow visualization using smoke was specially developed for this investigation, and a simple theory for the appearance of the smoke display is included in the text. In the original analysis, given in the main body of the report, a phase lag of 60 deg was found between the height of the vortex core and the heaving motion at a frequency parameter of 3.4. In a subsequent re-analysis of the data, given as an addendum to the main text, a more detailed comparison with theory is shown along with the results of extra measurements made with pressure transducers. |
